Mheat is our own take on a very popular, originally asian food, seitan. Seitan (say-tan) is, essentially, a food made with the protein extracted from wheat flour: gluten. Wheat gluten, as a food product, originated in China sometime around the 6th Century, and was especially popular as a substitute for meat amongst buddhists. Lovingly hand-made by us as per the traditional method, with a few little tweaks here and there, our unique recipe is flavourful, high in protein, low in fat, and features all the knowledge we’ve developed overtime in our little kitchen. 

Mheat will keep in the fridge for up to three months, and is perfectly freezable.

 

NEW! SMOKED PROVOLONE

Our Smoked Provolone is rich, velvety and smooth with a smoked beech wood finish. Adds a great buttery texture to sandwiches, and melts when grated onto pizza or into pasta. A great all rounder for making your quick lunches and snacks that much better. Why not try it with our speciality Charcuterie slices on a slice of sourdough?

ORIGINAL mheat STEAK

Our Original Steak is the most versatile. It's tasty, deliciously savoury with a rich umami taste that will compliment any marinade, sauce or vegetable side dish. Have it as a main alongside chips and a salad, chop it up and add it to your favourite stir fry or pasta dish or cube it up, sizzle it in a pan with some extra virgin olive oil and top your salad with it for an extra savoury oomph.

Each steak weighs 150g and will feed 2/3 people depending on what dish you're making with it.

A deliciously savoury, juicy burger packed with real tomato & onion chunks. Gently herbed with a quintessentially Italian twist, this burger makes no compromise on taste. It will never, ever fall apart on your barbecue. That's a promise! Fabulous in a bun with garlicky (vegan) mayo, spinach leaves, basil and sliced tomatoes. FRAgrante MHEAT BURGER

Golden Peaches, Rosemary and a Hint of Cinnamon

This one's for the sweet-toothed mheat eaters in the house! Our Fragrante burger has a light, perfectly balanced sweet and savoury flavour that is super tasty while also delicate on the palate. Infused with real peach compote (not the sugary stuff - this one's proper) with a hint of rosemary and a touch of cinnamon, it brings together the best of both worlds. It will never, ever fall apart on your barbecue. Pinky promise! Excellent in a wholemeal bun with rocket leaves, balsamic reduction, toasted almonds and cherry tomatoes.. or you can always go for red onions, ketchup and rocket!

Not just made to look like streaky bacon, we've reinvented the streaks in our rashers to create a delicious play on flavours and textures. These rashers are smoky, salty, tasty, with a hint of maple sweetness round the edges. Perfect in a full vegan breakfast, on a stack of pancakes, in a BLT or added to your favourite burger.

Smoky, Peppery & Aromatic New York Deli Style Classic

Inspired by the much loved staple of New York Jewish cuisine, our Pastramheat is aromatic, savoury, slightly smoky in flavour and fantastically tender. We coat every slice with a thin layer of extra virgin olive oil to preserve tenderness and keep it flavourful. Pairs well with a strong vegan cheese, added to a reuben or added to crackers as a light snack.

Each pack contains six slices. Please be aware that you may find whole mustard seeds in the packet.

SALAMINO

Chunky Hot Chilli Sausage Slices

A pizza fact for you: what is commonly referred to as "pepperoni" in English-speaking countries, is actually called "salamino piccante" in Italy. Pizzas are usually given names, too. One with salamino is called a "diavola". And if you like pizza, you're going to love these! Our salamino slices make the perfect pizza topping: they're super tasty, nice and chunky, with a great chilli kick. We marinate them in extra virgin olive oil before laying each slice out by hand. Are you ready for a proper vegan diavola?

Each pack contains eighteen slices. That's enough for two large pizzas, three medium pizzas, or six mini pizzas.

Späck

Smoky, Tirolean Seasoned Aromatic Deli Slices

Speck is a cured ham which originated in Tyrol, an historical alpine region in Austria that partly belongs to Italy. Traditionally both salt cured and smoked, it has a distinctively peppery flavour with strong notes of juniper berry and spices. One of our all time childhood favourites in Italy, we just had to add it to our speciality Mheats. These smoky deli slices are one of our proudest creations. We've spiced our Späck with whole crushed juniper berries and a mix of other spices to bring our culinary heritage back to life, re-dimensioned in vegan terms, sliced thin and brushed in extra virgin olive oil. 

Each pack contains six slices, each one seasoned individually with freshly ground red, green and black peppercorns.

Herbed Roast

Tender Deli Slices with Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The best thing since (and in) sliced bread! Our herbed roast is sliced to order, then gently brushed in extra virgin olive oil and Mediterranean herbs. Excellent in a sandwich with pickled red onions, horseradish aquafaba mayo, watercress and a sliced tomato. Simple, easy and tasty.

Each pack contains six slices. You can make three sandwiches with them. You could also wrap them around breadsticks as an appetiser!

Limited Edition Fennel Salame

Tuscan Inspired Fennel Salame Slices

Available at VegFest Birghton 2016, and at a few other events this year, this one's a personal favourite of ours. Originally a Tuscan salame (Finocchiona), we've reinvented the traditional recipe to create a tasty, fennel infused aromatic vegan salame. It's perfect in a focaccia, shredded into a salad with fresh oranges, grilled fennel bulbs and thyme or simply wrapped around a breadstick as a healthy snack.

Each pack contains nine slices. Each one is brushed with extra virgin olive oil and a mix of herbs.
